We are seeking an Associate Biosafety Officer for a 2-year-regular position (renewable) to work within the Biosafety Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)
Job Description

The incumbent of this position is responsible for assisting and supporting the Senior Officer for Biosafety & Laboratory Maintenance in ensuring that environmental, and biosafety matters within the laboratory(Biosafety Level 1, 2). It assists in providing the lab equipment maintenance and Biorepository information of the laboratory.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Ensure biosafety of BSL 1,2 laboratory
  • Participate in the execution of the IVI biosafety program with particular emphasis on research activities involving biohazardous agents, toxin, and recombinant DNA molecules, while ensuring that storage and handling of Biological Agents (HDP, LMO, toxin etc) complies with national and international biosafety requirements.
  • Assist with day-to-day all laboratory operations including, but not limited to, the monitoring of authorized persons, pathogens, materials and equipment as well as the maintenance of stocks of consumables, personal protective equipment, disinfectants and other materials, while maintaining all necessary records including, but limited to, training, maintenance, validation.
  • Participate in investigations of laboratory related accidents/incidents
  • Participate as a member of the emergency response team.
2. Management of MFDS Biorepository and GCLP
  • Support smooth communication between the Lab and QM
  • Biorepository sample in-and-out management
  • Cleaning and maintenance of biorepository affiliated equipment and facility
  • Provide support to prepare authentication about MFDS GCLP Laboratory
3. Maintain lab and GCLP equipment
  • Assist procurement of the equipment and materials, while coordinating maintenance and repairing service of equipment in laboratory.
  • Organize equipment and biosafety training.
4. Other activities
  • Provide support to unit (or department)
Job Requirements and Qualifications
1. Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
2. Related Field Work Experience
  • Biosafety OR Safety in laboratory
3. Language Proficiency
  • Fluency in English
