Under the primary supervision of the Head, but working closely with the Science Officer (SO) of the World Climate Research Division, the intern will perform the following duties:

– Assist in providing logistical support to meetings and activities of the WCRP “my Climate Risk” Lighthouse Activity (www.wcrp-climate.org/my-climate-risk), including supporting and writing the meeting report of 1-2 My Climate Risk General Assemblies (online) per year and facilitating communication and joint activities between regional hubs.
– Assist the SO with tracking cryosphere research activities across the Science and Innovation Department and supporting early planning, led by the research community, for the International Polar Year 2032-33 (and lead up activities).
– Assist the SO on implementing the WCRP membership database in Airtable, including growing the size of the existing database, maintaining the information included in the database, and working with a developer to build a solution that can be used by the WCRP Secretariat and international project offices.
– Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
BSc or equivalent in environmental sciences, science (natural or social).
Experience
– Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme.
– Experience in writing and editing reports, articles, or other texts (in English) is required.
– Proficient knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office.
– Experience with Airtable is desirable.
Other requirements
The intern will work closely with the WCRP Science Officer, under the supervision of the Head of WCRP. The intern will help to support the meetings of steering and working groups, learning about how scientists collaborate internationally towards advancing and influencing the international science agenda. The intern will also work towards ensuring WCRP has a comprehensive membership database.

The intern will be working for a multicultural co-sponsored Programme. The work will be varied and will involve supporting some of WCRP’s most exciting and state of the art activities. There may be the option to travel to key meetings. The intern will learn how to build a database in Airtable.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written) is essential. Knowledge of the other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
