The global project “Geodata for Development – Supporting the Land Degradation Neutrality Initiative of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO-LDN)” (GV D4D4LDN) works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The GEO-LDN initiative supports the actors of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in the use of geodata for planning, monitoring and decision-making processes for sustainable land management and is divided into four areas of work: (1) the GEO-LDN Secretariat with its coordination, networking and public relations work; (2) the development of a modular and interoperable system of geodata and decision support tools for LDN; (3) capacity building, in particular the development of a postgraduate study programme and web-based offerings; (4) the exchange of knowledge and experience, e.g. through annual dialogue forums. The trainee position is located in work areas 1 and 4.

Your tasks
As part of your internship, you will have the following tasks, among others:
- Support internal communication within the team as well as internal and external communication of the GEO-LDN Secretariat
- Supporting the implementation of the communication plan, e.g. collecting and organizing relevant content, creating content and graphic material, editing content on the website, creating newsletters, posting on social media. Experience with Django and/or Wagtail and/or Sendinblue is an advantage
- Preparing facts and figures, topics, concepts and experiences for technical statements, presentations and external communication as well as designing and creating PowerPoint presentations
- Content and logistical support in the implementation of events (conferences, meetings, virtual event series, etc.) including preparation and follow-up and participant management
- Research potential partnerships and stakeholders for activities related to the above tasks
- Support ad-hoc tasks required for the GEO LDN Flagship
- Independently plan, coordinate and execute a work process to be defined with the team lead
Your profile
- You study at least from the sixth semester in the following areas communication, media studies, journalism, economics, political science, international relations or another relevant discipline
- You have a high degree of digital affinity and enjoy working with social media (especially Linkedin and Twitter); experience in working with stakeholders from various cultural background , website design (especially HTML coding and/or use of Django) and graphic design is an advantage
- You have the willingness and ability to quickly familiarize yourself with complex issues and summarize them concisely; you have a very good feel for language and are adept at writing and editing texts and content creation
- You have a talent for organization and enjoy supporting the preparation and implementation of events in new, digital formats with a hands-on mentality
- You are motivated, a team player and flexible. Your way of working is organized, independent, systematic, detail- and result-oriented and you implement creative ideas in an agile, fast and productive way.
- You have a very good command of written and spoken English (German, Spanish, French and other language skills are an advantage)
- Good knowledge of the common MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) is a prerequisite

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.134,52 (gross).
