JOB SUMMARY

 

Result of Service
The consultant will produce multimedia assets (photos, blogs and videos as well as success stories) for 10 Technical Assistance projects in 10 countries which are participating in the Climate Change and Security Programme funded by the European Commission and the AFCIA programme funded by the Adaptation Fund.

Duties and Responsibilities
The consulting work described in these TORs is implemented under the Climate Change and Security Programme (‘Programme’), financed by the European Commission and the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) funded by the Adaptation Fund. As part of the reporting to this funding organization, a multimedia field reportage (including photos, blogs and videos as well as success stories) will be created to tell the narrative around the impact of the respective Programmes in 10 beneficiary countries. Objectives The overall objective is to carry out an international multimedia field reportage for projects financed by the EC Climate Security Programme and the AFCIA Programme. These communications assets will showcase evidence of impact for the Adaptation Fund’s AFCIA Programme and the European Commission Programme on Climate Change and Security. Such evidence will be presented at conferences (including COP30), on social media, and as part of various reports for each programme, to show donors and other key stakeholders the results of the investment. Output expectations Products delivered from each mission: • A minimum of 30 post-produced photographs • A three-to-five-minute video, edited according to client specifications and branding guidelines • A video of stunning B-roll to use for future projects • A video of assembled interview extracts with transcriptions to be used for future projects • A web story in the typical UN style with a human focus • Transcript of interviews (in English) • A transcript in English of all final videos. English subtitles for videos in Spanish, French and any local language. Tasks The task includes the following: 1. Pre-production Consultations – Research – Logistical planning – Itinerary proposals – Shot list – Obtaining drone operation permits, etc. 2. Mission (travel) Travel to TA site (10 missions) 3. Production Directing photographic & videographic shoots with professional equipment – Conducting interviews – Creating cinematic visuals with a DSLR camera and drone – Recording audio – Adhering to image rights legislation, etc. 4. Video post-production Editing – Colour-grading – Audiomixing – Interview transcriptions – Subtitling – Adding captions, logos and royalty-free music – Archiving organised materials – Exporting in various formats according to client request, etc. 5. Photo post-production Delivering a minimum of 30 post produced photographs 6. Web story A web story in the typical UN style with human a focus. 7. Rounds of feedback Delivering up to three drafts of each product modified according to client feedback. Performance indicators • Submission and completion of communications products from the 10 missions by 30th September 2025.
Qualifications/special skills
• The consultant must have a degree in photography/multimedia and a lengthy experience in videography, photography and storytelling. • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in photography, communication, journalism, art, international relations, public administration, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • Experience with the development of photos, blogs and videos as well as success stories. The consultant must be a recognized photographer and videographer, with a proven track record of visual and written storytelling.
