The European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) operates a fleet of advanced meteorological satellites to monitor and improve weather forecasting and climate observation across Europe and neighboring regions. EUMETSAT provides critical data and services for weather prediction, climate research, and environmental monitoring, supporting both national and international meteorological agencies. The Configuration Management Competence Area (CM CA) is considered to be a key pillar in managing the complex configuration of satellite systems and ground segment infrastructure to ensure that appropriate configuration control and change management processes are applied. The successful candidate will provide cross-organisational configuration support according to the pillars of configuration management (identification of configuration items, their control, audit and status reporting). The holder of this post has the responsibility for the management and delivery of the Configuration Management support to the technical Departments Programme Preparation and Development (PRD), Operations and Services to Users (OPS) and Technical and Scientific Support (TSS).
Reporting to the Head of Process Assurance and Management Support Division (PRS), the successful candidate will get the unique opportunity to contribute with her/his expertise, leadership skills and strategic mind-set to all configuration management activities across EUMETSAT. Supported by a talented team of engineers and analysts, she/he will get the opportunity to make impact on the future of configuration management at EUMETSAT.
University degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, preferably in Aerospace or Information Technology.

The initial contract will be of 4 years’ duration, with subsequent 5 year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of follow-up contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT.
This post is graded A3/A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 8647 per month (net of internal tax but excluding pension contribution and insurances) which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
