The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a state owned organisation.

We work worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.

GIZ International Services is shortlisted for the EU-funded tender: EU-CHINA INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM in China.

The overall objective (Impact) to which this action contributes is to promote EU values and interests and engage China to tackle global challenges.

The specific objective (Outcome) of this contract is to develop a detailed and evidence-based understanding of China’s evolving role in international development and promote EU interests and positions in engaging China to address global development challenges and to deliver on key international commitments (e.g.

2030 Agenda, SDGs, Paris Agreement) in line with the NDICI partnership area of cooperation.

 

Your tasks

 

The KE1 plays a crucial role in implementing the contract by being the primary contact for the Contracting Authority.

She/he will act as TL and is expected to take responsibility for the coordinated and efficient implementation of the various components of the project, in coordination with the other experts.

Furthermore, she/he shall ensure coordination with EUD China and other stakeholders of the project.

The position is full-time 220 days/year.

 

Your profile

 

Qualification and skills

  • University degree at Master’s level, attested by a diploma, in a discipline relevant to this assignment.

Or, in the absence of Master’s degree, an undergraduate degree with additional 5 years of relevant professional experience on top of the 10 years of post-graduate general professional experience required below (15 years’ experience in total)

  • High proficiency in English, both oral and written, at least at CERF-level C1 to be demonstrated by certificate or by past relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • In addition to the minimum requirements described above, the following assets apply.

 

The assets will not form a basis for the rejection of an offer but will be used to further assess the strengths of a key expert that meets the minimum requirements

  • Knowledge of Chinese language, at least at CERF-level A2 to be demonstrated by certificate or by past relevant experience

 

 

General Professional experience

  • Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience1 in an area relevant to the scope of this assignment, such as international development, international relations, economic cooperation, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in project management in the public and/or private sector as a team leader or assuming equivalent role

 

Specific professional experience

Location information

 

At least 80% of the time should be spent in the operational base of the project, i.e.

Beijing, China

Duration: 36 months

Indicative start: November 2024
