Organizational Setting and Reporting:
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies.
OCHA also ensures a framework for each actor to contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA’s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
This temporary job opening is being advertised for the position of Driver/Clerk based in the Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, Amman, Jordan.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Administration, the incumbent reports to the Fleet Manager.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Driver/Clerk will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
Provision of reliable and secure driving services.
Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc.
Proper use of vehicle and day-to-day inspection of the assigned vehicle.
Other administrative support

Knowledge of the area and the current condition of roads and highways, security and safety awareness; familiarity with frequently traveled routes and routines of the more senior staff or the officers. Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job Specific Qualifications
A valid national driver’s license and a clean driving record with no traffic violations is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of progressive and responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required.
Experience working with the United Nations Common System, a comparable international and/or non-governmental organization, or with embassies is desirable.
Experience in the basic use of computers and relevant office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and the ability to use web-based management and electronic log, file, and/or scheduling systems is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For this advertised position, knowledge of English is required.
Fluency in Arabic is required.
