To Accelerate structural transformations for sustainable development our programming priorities are 1) Sustainable, Inclusive, and Green Growth, 2) Sustainable environmental management and increased resilience to shocks and crises, and 3) Improved governance for accountable, responsive institutions and civic engagement. The UNDP Namibia country office supports various communities and stakeholders including the Government, National Human Rights institutions and civil society organizations’ efforts in advancing in advancing disability inclusion, gender equality and women’s empowerment for sustainable development in Namibia.
The UNV Disability and Inclusion Associate will support the advancing of disability inclusion through promoting and advocating for inclusivity and diversity in UNDP programme implementation. The UNV will draw from the UNDP portfolio focus on eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, and building resilience in Namibia.
• Contribute to design and implement accessible and representative advocacy approaches in promoting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities;
• In collaboration with the Portfolio, Programme and Operations teams, identify the areas of focus for disability inclusion, skills development, and inclusive education-related programming/projects with the greatest potential for impact and scale;
• Participate in the development of inclusive strategies for media and information literacy initiatives;
• Facilitate capacity building on disability mainstreaming and targeting persons with disability in programming;
• Support the planning and execution of capacity-building programs that cater to the specific needs of persons with disabilities;
• Ensure that training materials and methods are accessible and inclusive;
• Collaborate on the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact of inclusive initiatives e.g.
Social and Environmental Screening and Project Quality Assessments;
• Provide regular reports on the progress of inclusive programs and suggest areas for improvement based on lessons learned and best practices;
• Support building and maintaining strategic alliances for gender equality and disability inclusion with various partners, including institutional links with UN agencies and other relevant entities;
• Actively support in mapping and identifying potential new partnerships with relevant local, regional and international stakeholders to enhance the reach and effectiveness of inclusion initiatives;
• Any other related tasks that may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

national and/or international level in Social Science or Humanities; experience in partnership with NGOs, civil society organizations, or other international development organizations is an asset;

• Computer literacy, including working knowledge in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet;

• Have affinity with or interest in sustainable development and human rights, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
Namibia is characterized by diverse geographical landscapes including deserts, savannahs, and rivers, offering a unique living and working environment.
The duty station in Windhoek provides good living conditions, with access to health services, international schools, and recreational facilities. The country is generally safe, peaceful and politically stable, with a level of infrastructure and services conducive to international standards. The UN Volunteer will be based in Windhoek, the capital city of the Republic of Namibia. The city has a population of approximately 400,000 people and is cosmopolitan. It is relatively safe, peaceful and politically stable.
There is a good and easily accessible transport and communication network systems. There is ample access to various social amenities. The climate is pleasant with a mild winter from May to August and a hot summer (high temperature but very low humidity) from September to April.
