JOB SUMMARY

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Thematic Area Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Co-lead in defining the project’s strategic focus on HN, ensuring integration of Save the Children’s Theory of Change in the strategies and approaches.
  • Contribute to updating and enhancing HN Thematic Strategy Paper
  • Identifies innovations and ensures evidence-based results when designing the project

Program Quality Assurance and Technical Support

  • Oversee and updating of HN work in SCP including program development, and where SC is now and next steps
  • Co-lead with SC HN Program Officer assessments in SCP partner schools on HN and/or Wins
  • Review, update or develop Training Design (including TNA tool) and Materials on HN for Teachers (with pre-testing) with input from HN Program Officers and other related cross thematic program and HN/WASH Technical Advisors.

  • Co-Facilitate teacher’s and child facilitator’s trainings and develop a post-training on HN
  • Lead co-design workshops with children and communities on WASH facilities and WASH caravans
  • Organize, co-facilitate and participate in consultation meetings and workshop on HN-related teaching and learning materials with DepEd and other stakeholders
  • Lead HN IEC material review, updating, development.coordinate with communications unit staff and service providers (e.g. graphic artist) for the layout, packaging and compliance to SCP protocols
  • Communicate with SCP colleagues on updates and inputs to programming
  • Coordinates with colleagues in the Technical Advisory Unit in the integration of HN programming in other thematic areas such as Education, Health and Nutrition, and Adolescent Development.

Networking, Partnership & Advocacy

  • Coordinate with Community Facilitators, schools’ management and other key stakeholders to facilitate health and nutrition interventions in the partner-schools
  • Coordinates with key partners and stakeholders including DepEd division offices, schools and Central Office (School Health Division) to share progress of interventions and learning, and to inform policies related to HN
    • Research
  • Manage community partners
  • Coordinates with Iligan City CLGU (i.e.City Health Office and City Agriculture Office) and other government agencies on the city/ municipal level.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

  • Facilitate procurement requests for WASH in Schools activities and HN-related supplies in coordination with Community Facilitators, partners, Administrative and Logistics Staff.
  • Facilitate delivery and turnover of HN-related materials and supplies to schools
  • Support regular monitoring of schools, including drop in visits to monitor progress towards agreed interventions in school. Documentation of findings in regular reports relevant staff
  • Supports the establishment of monitoring, evaluation and accountability mechanisms and processes and ensures that inputs, results and impact related to this are effectively monitored and evaluated
  • Contributes to the identification, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned for advancing specific children’s rights and development issues related to HN
  • Assists in the drafting of reports and ensuring these meet the organizations and the donor’s standards; where relevant, consolidates partners’ reports
  • Contributes to the writing of the quarterly and annual country office plans and reports that are submitted to the regional office

Others

  • Is updated and abreast with discussions / discourse on children’s rights and issues related to HN
  • Actively participates in relevant organizational meetings at the field office and national levels
  • Is aware of and follow safety and security policies and procedures
  • Assumes other tasks as may be assigned and agreed with the Manager for Education of Urban Luzon Programs Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in courses related to health and nutrition, with a focus on child and adolescent health and nutrition.Expertise in assessment, training and learning materials development;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working on teachers, learners, health workers and local government unit capacity assessment, training module development, implementation of training program and project management or supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with host government, education and health institutions, and partners in implementing a complex project in the field under challenging circumstances;
  • Significant knowledge of the education and health systems in the Philippines, specifically on in-service training and health services delivery
  • Experience developing and ensuring the effective use of teaching and learning materials;
  • Experiencing in supervision, mentoring or coaching of teachers, health service providers, and learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in team situations;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Filipino required.
