FHI 360 is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Director for the anticipated USAID-funded Lesotho Sustaining Epidemic Control through Unified Prevention (SECURE).

The purpose of the project is to advance prevent, detect, and respond to new HIV infections through unified approaches to prevention and strengthened community systems.

SECURE will advance the Government of Lesotho’s (GOL) efforts to improve access to combination prevention services for people at risk of acquiring HIV.

Summary:

The Technical Director is responsible for the technical leadership and technical oversight of the project, with a focus on implementation of evidence-based, high quality, multi-sectoral interventions to strengthen access to HIV prevention, care, and treatment.

The Technical Director will manage the design and implementation of key components of the program description and ensure adherence to global standard of excellence in health service delivery programming.

The position reports directly to the Chief of Party and will take a leadership role in ensuring technical implementation of high impact, proven interventions and ensure the project meets stated goals and reporting requirements.

Accountabilities :

  • Coordinate among USAID, other implementing partners and key stakeholders, including government institutions and representatives.

 

  • Provide technical leadership in the development and implementation of strategies, interventions and activities that are aimed at strengthening HIV service delivery, combination HIV prevention, including for key and priority populations, AGYW, and Boys/Men for VMMC, community systems and linkages throughout the continuum of care.

 

  • Ensure that project strategies and activities are evidence-based and in line with state-of-the art, globally recognized best practices as well as aligned with Lesotho’s national guidelines and policies.
  • Build capacity of staff, implementing partners, government counterparts, and other stakeholders working with the project.
  • Contribute to work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and other reports and papers summarizing project results and evidence.
  • Deliver presentations at professional meetings and conferences.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Chief of Party in their absence.

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ensures the quality of implemented technical activities and systems.
  • Has the ability to manage projects, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
  • Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
  • Ability to manage their own work to job and performance standards.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English fluent in host country language.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree or its International Equivalent in Health, Human Development or Related Field.

Experience:

  • Requires 10+ years of relevant experience in technical implementation of large projects and/or programs; 6+ years managing technical activities on a similarly complex biomedical prevention activity.
  • Documented experience providing technical assistance, capacity building and business development in a related technical domain.
