The Portfolio Management Intern is responsible for day to day implementation and operational support to various UNOPS Geneva based partners.

The individual will work in close collaboration with the operations, programme and project teams in Geneva Office, UNOPS HQ and partner UN agencies’ and Government officials for successful service delivery.

 

 

The incumbent is expected to support the efficient functioning of the team through following assignments:

  • Assist with tracking and processing invoices and payments in UNOPS ERP system, creating journal entries as required;
  • Assists the different teams on a wide range of tasks related to data collection, review and analysis;
  • Assists with reporting of data; developing different dashboards; communicates with colleagues in areas requiring verification and additional information;
  • Supports system development and process improvement initiatives;
  • Provides project management support and innovative solutions to project activities;
  • Participates in internal and external meetings, events related to partnerships and project operations.

    Assists with maintaining an updated database of partners and relevant materials;

  • Assists with the development of various materials with respect to trainings, events, PowerPoints, guidance notes and templates.

    Reviews supporting documents ensuring completeness and accuracy;

  • Assists the UN Partners team on risk management, mitigation strategies and opportunities;
  • Assists the UN Partners team on integrity due diligence checks of potential partners;
  • Assist the provision of administrative, travel, procurement, HR and logistics support required for the portfolio.
  • Provide support to the portfolio, ensuring that relevant project support functions requiring programme and operational support are provided in a professional and timely manner;
  • Support the identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learnt, including coordination and organization wide implementation of knowledge sharing and documentation methodologies
  • Provides support on other matters relevant to UN Partners.

Training components and learning elements

The incumbent will have full access to the Portfolio files, in particular to files and products developed in the context of the implemented activities.

The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, the Project ERP system and the Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming etc.

Participation in training courses

The incumbent will have access to the UNOPS Learning Zone and apply for training in Programme Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Coaching, and mandatory training as per UNOPS policy.

Terms and Conditions

The internship comes with no expectations of future employment with UNOPS as a direct result of the internship.

Monitoring and Progress Controls

The incumbent will define his/her own performance indicators responding to the priorities identified with his / her supervisor.

These indicators will be assessed in accordance with performance management policy for internships.

 

Education :

The applicant should have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed)
  • Have graduated from studies within three (3) years prior to the start date of the internship.
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate program (Masters)

Experience :

  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience, but experience in writing and editing is desirable.
  • Experience in Office software packages (Word, PowerPoint) and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet (Excel).
  • Experience in use of various data management systems, platforms and technologies is an asset.
  • Experience in use of project management tools is an asset.
  • Experience in use of Google Suite is an advantage.

Language :

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Knowledge of other United Nations languages (Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset.
  • ● A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, International Relations.
