JOB CONTEXT:

The team currently comprises 17 staff.
HI has been active in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) for over twenty years, implementing and promoting inclusive approaches that ensure protection of groups most excluded and most affected by disasters, such as persons with disabilities, older people, women, children, and indigenous populations.
Together with local partners, we develop risk reduction and disaster preparedness strategies that address and lessen the differential impact of disasters on the most vulnerable groups and individuals. The increased frequency and intensity of disaster events due to climate change is posing unprecedented threats to poor communities and most vulnerable groups, calling for greater investments in DRR and innovative approaches in order to act before a disaster has actually happened or developed into a humanitarian crisis.
To this end, HI has developed a multi-year, multi-country project aiming at piloting inclusive anticipatory action approaches for communities frequently impacted by climate-driven disasters in three countries.
