To support the IVP Unit in responding to measles outbreaks through research, field investigations, and strengthening immunization programs in the region.
Required experience
7 years of experience in professional work experience at the national and/or international level in public health, specifically in communicable disease or vaccination and immunization.
• Experience in drafting research papers and scientific journal publications.
• Experience in field investigation and data analysis
• Experience in organization of training workshops and capacity-building activities.
• Experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge
• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;

Required education level
Master degree or equivalent in Advanced university degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, or a related field.
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Medical Officer (Immunization in health emergencies) or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV (Technical Assistant, IVP) will:
• Ensure that all countries have preparedness and response plan for the outbreaks and help in developing/updating them as needed.
• Assist in monitoring the outbreaks status in the countries and make deep analysis on the outbreaks in the countries to enable timely and effective response.
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of outbreak response activities.
• Participate in field investigations during measles outbreaks.
• Support the development of outbreak investigation reports and develop action plan for the outbreak response.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, research papers, and presentations.
• Assist in the organization of training workshops and capacity-building activities for healthcare workers on measles outbreak response.
• Assist in development of training materials and guidelines on outbreak investigation and response.
– Results/expected outputs:
* As an active IVP unit team member, high-quality support to IVP Unit, DCD, EMRO and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
• Assist in the coordination and implementation of outbreak field investigation and provide technical report.
• Conduct studies on measles/ VPDs epidemiology, After Action Reviews and Root cause analysis.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, research papers, and presentations.
• Assist in the organization of training workshops, develop training materials, and capacity-building activities for healthcare workers on measles outbreak response.
• Develop and update field guidelines for VPDs outbreaks and vaccination during emergency.
• Provide periodic feedback reports to countries facing outbreaks.
