Under the direct supervision of the Pharmaceutical Officer and the overall guidance of the Head of WHO Country Office (HWCO), the Project Engineer Specialist is a team member in the technical unit. Work is assigned by the supervisor who gives instructions on non-routine matters. Routine tasks are performed independently with some discretion in non-routine matters related to office procedures only.
Required experience
5 years of experience in a related field of infrastructure projects, project management and supply chain; relevant experience in WHO or UN organization is an asset;
• Valid engineering license from the Jordanian Engineers Association is preferred
• Background and well-knowledge of the national (Jordan) engineering regulations and legislation
• Preferable to has a previous experience in the medical construction works for warehouses and primary health care centers
• Background with good understanding for the Civil/Electrical/Mechanical works (MEP services)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required education level
Bachelor degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration and/or any well-known certifications in the Supply Chain Management and Project Management field is an asset.
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmaceuticals Officer, the UN Volunteer will:
• Participate in and follow up on the planning, coordination, and implementation of infrastructure activities for medical warehouses and primary health care centers.
• Support in reviewing and developing the project layout design, tender specifications, BOQs, technical parts of the TOR, and assist WHO in launching the tender.
• Monitor, supervise, and provide guidelines and instructions at the construction site to ensure quality.
• Apply WHO Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDPs) for existing regional warehouses.
• Ensure all projects comply with WHO environmental regulations and regulatory requirements.
• Enhance the performance and strengthen the medical supply chain management system.
• Participate in budgeting and cost control of projects.
• Assist in identifying potential risks and challenges in the construction process and participate in mitigating these risks.
• Organize data, drawings, and documents.
• Assist in drafting, formatting, and editing policy briefs, tool kits, guides/manuals, hand-outs, brochures, and reports.
• Assist in organizing workshops, meetings, conferences, events, filed visit, etc.
• Participate in and support ongoing departmental projects, activities, and training workshops.
• Assist in coordinating logistical arrangements for procurement, storage, distribution, and delivery of medicines, vaccines, assistive technology, health technologies, and medical equipment.
