Position: Case Management Officer
Location: Hodiedah

The Opportunity:
The Child Protection Case Management Officer will be responsible for activities related to case management.
She/he will be responsible for effective implementation and proper documentation of all child protection cases. The CM Officer will ensure that project activities on case management are in line with Save the Children’s key child protection principles including best interests of the child, confidentiality, do no harm and child participation, draw on relevant best practices and lessons learned, enable children to attain their rights and are compliant with donor regulations. She/He will provide technical oversight to stakeholders and the case management team.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Program planning, supervision and monitoring:
- Support the review and technical design of the SC case management approach
- Ensure that the implementation of Case Management is functional and adhered to the Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS) and Case Management SoPs.
- Schedule and supervise case management meetings at least every two weeks.Share minutes of case management meetings with team and CP coordinator.
- Conduct weekly supervision meetings with all caseworkers, providing technical advice on cases to caseworkers. Facilitate peer-to-peer support groups where appropriate.
- Organize the case conference, to discuss challenging cases, ensure timely follow up, and that all systems are functional.
- Review staff caseloads to ensure they are manageable and share challenges with CP coordinator.
- Monitor timescales for response, decision-making, placement, follow-up and review.
- Review and analyse trends in the caseload to inform programming.
- Conduct regular case file audit and check that protocols and principles are respected.
- Archive all case management department documents and financial transactions safely as per the policy of SCI.
- Support and contribute to the design of case management tools including clear case management eligibility and closure criteria as per case management SoPs.
- Ensures that case workers, community volunteers are appropriately supported in their daily work.
- Conduct regular visits to the field sites to observe the quality of the implementation of the case management activities.
- Provide information to community members referring to the services providers on how to better protect their children.
- Design, prepare and provide quality trainings sessions, workshops and teaching events on case management related topics in all impact locations according to the requirements.
- Actively support baseline / endline / other surveys for MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning) purposes.
- Ensure that the community is well informed on the case management service (eligibility/target, function, etc.)
- Facilitate implementation of awareness-raising sessions with community members on identification and referral of children with protection concerns.
Capacity Building:
- Ensure staff gaps and training needs do not result in gaps in support to individuals in case management and address such issues with CP the coordinator.
- Ensure access and timely delivery of material, logistical, and further technical support and set eligibility criteria for material and other support
- Develop and facilitate Case Management training module to case workers, stakeholders, CPCs, government departments as required.
- Ensure all staff are trained on monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
Reporting and administrative:
- Revise and compile weekly case workers report.
- Provide timely inputs to programme and donor reports on case management project activities and awareness raising activities in compliance with internal Save the Children requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
- Ensure that all relevant financial documentation is completed accurately as required by SCI financial policy.
Coordination, advocacy and Networking:
- Attend CP coordination / CPWG meeting when and as required.Ensure effective coordination with the CPWG and all relevant task groups for case management.
- Conduct service mapping, support the periodic review if referral services and ensure the direct and referral case management services are accessible.
- Identify gaps in services and support both internal and external advocacy to fill in the service gaps.
- Coordinate all case management processes within SCI and with partners.
- Liaise and collaborate with other Case Management actors when required.
- Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other SCI sector staff.
- With the Child Protection Team, support the integration of child protection case management into the other core sectors of SCI programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor’s/ diploma degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social work, Law, Political Science & International Relations, community development or another related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the Case Management field.
- Experience in having implemented psychosocial support programmes.
- Experience of working directly with children and/or adolescents.
- Training skills, and ability to conduct training.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours in the event of emergencies.
- Ability to represent Save the Children at meetings with government officials.
- Capacity to work with a team and to work under pressure.
- Computer skills in Word, excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to analyse information, evaluate options, and follow the strategic directions as guided.
- An in-depth understanding of national development issues, laws and national policies in particular as relates to children.
- Previous experience of working with a multi-cultural team and adaptability to varied team dynamics.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- English language for this position is an extra additional important criterion to enable the person for quick improvement.
