About this position

We are looking for an analytical, inquisitive, and methodical monitoring and evaluation Consultant.

As a monitoring and evaluation consultant, you will assist our team in the preparation of research papers, reports, and presentations. The consultant will support operational teams in the production of project’s profile (PP) and proposal for operational development (POD), project’s monitoring report (PMR) and project’s completion report (PCR).

You will work in the Trade and Investment Division (TIN), of the Integration and Trade Sector (INT).

This team performs research, provides policy advice and technical assistance, and carries out financial operations through grants and loans with the objective of strengthening the capacity of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in the areas of trade and integration.

 

What you’ll do:

Under the supervision of INT/TIN Division Chief and the Sector Economic Advisor and in close collaboration with a senior monitoring and evaluation consultant and the team, the monitoring and evaluation consultant will:

  • Support operational teams in the production of project’s profile (PP) and proposal for operational development (POD) by:
    • helping in drafting the document, including through the review of the relevant literature, gathering relevant statistics for the diagnosis, and conducting background analyses;
    • drafting the evaluation of the impact section of the monitoring and evaluation annex, including leading the design of the impact evaluation approach, establishing the data requirements, and defining the identification strategy;
    • contributing to the design the ex-ante economic analyses;
    • providing comments and recommendations on the PPs and PODs;
    • producing presentations;
    • participating in and providing inputs for all relevant meetings, both internal and with local counterparts.
  • Support operational teams in the production of project’s monitoring report (PMR) and project’s completion report (PCR) by:
    • helping in drafting the document, including through the review of the relevant literature and documentation, gathering relevant statistics for the diagnosis, and conducting background analyses;
    • providing comments and recommendations on the PMRs and PCRs;
    • participating in and providing inputs for all relevant meetings, both internal and with local counterparts.

What you’ll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics
  • Experience At least 2 years of research experience in applied micro econometrics at a recognized university, research center, or government organization.

Programming in Stata.

  • Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.

 

  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
