Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change.

 

Job Purpose

 

Under the supervision of the Manager, IRRI Education, the Marketing and Business Development Officer will work on business development and marketing for all five portfolio of IE (short courses, scholarships, advisory around capacity development, e-learning platform and knowledge platform).

He/she will be expected to actively look for opportunities and provide support in business development and marketing, including development, packaging and submission of tenders or proposals as required by possible donors/funders, branding and communication activities such as advertisement, marketing collaterals, website, and online releases (internal and external), market research, budget, expense, sales and revenue analysis, and oversee the client database management in coordination with the Manager, IRRI Education.

Support and help establish and sustain partnerships with stakeholders.

Draft reports for submission to supervisor and stakeholders.

This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

A. Marketing and Business development support for all five portfolios of IE (short courses, scholarships, advisory around capacity development, e-learning platform and knowledge platform):

  • Support in looking for opportunities, assist in the development of business and marketing plans including development, packaging and submission of tenders or proposals as required by possible donors/funders
  • Coordinate and develop branding and communication activities such as advertisement, marketing collaterals, website updates, and online releases (internal and external), market research, budget, expense, sales and revenue analysis, and oversee the client database management around the five portfolio of IE in coordination with the Manager, IE Scholarships and Enrolments
  • Take part in the review of existing processes, policies and guidelines and draft/recommend new ones to ensure efficient performances within the unit
  • Prepare reports for submission to supervisor and stakeholders
  • Respond to the queries regarding IE’s five products in a timely fashion and build strong customer relationships.
  • Support processing of memorandum of agreements and ensure compliance to national and international standards and legal requirements in coordination with concerned units at IRRI and concerned stakeholder

B.

Coordination and Liaison

  • Provide support to ensure proper turnover of successfully developed projects and programs to the IE operations team
  • Help establish and sustain partnerships with various stakeholders (e.g.

collaborators, community leaders, publishers, service providers, donors, visitors, consortium members, NARES, universities for program and with other relevant stakeholders) and explore possible cross-selling opportunities and funding

  • Liaise with different units/teams for specific undertakings related to business development (e.g. Business development, Project Managements Office, IRRI Technology Transfer, among others)

 

C.

Communication and Reporting

  • Draft reports for submission to supervisor and/or stakeholders [e.g project reports/monthly reports]
  • Contribute ideas for the development of unit specific proposals
  • Handle customer calls and appointments effectively for new opportunities
  • Participate in industry forums, client discussions, and conferences
Qualifications

 

  • Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Management, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Communication, Development Communication or a related field
  • Experience in marketing and business development
  • 1 year relevant work experience in a cross-cultural setting and learning environment

 

Skills Required

 

Mandatory

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and tools
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
