ABOUT THE PROJECT

One of the first projects in the GGGI Kyrgyzstan office is set to launch in 2024 with funding from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea.

Titled “Strengthening Climate Resilience through the Introduction of Innovative Smart Techniques in Flood and Drought Management in Central Asia” (the “Project”), it will focus on landslide and flood prevention measures.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Associate, under supervision of his/her manager, provides day to day technical support internally as well as to relevant government counterpart.

The position carries out analytical work related to his/her technical expertise and provides a wide range of contributions in support of delivery of components/workstreams in the country program.

This position within the Kyrgyzstan country team will support the development and implementation of various strategies and studies focused on climate resilience and flood and drought management.

The Project Associate will report to the Project Manager and Country Representative.

 

PURPOSE
  • Assist in implementing specific parts of a project under guidance of his/her manager
  • Provide technical analytical input to support project output delivery, for example compiling research case studies and other illustrative materials
  • Support country-level communications and outreach campaigns for the program
  • Support the development of baseline assessments and data collection tools and surveys for the country program.
  • Review project components, develops project resource profiles and timelines; Monitors project implementation through site visits, identifying operational issues with solutions as relevant.

 

ENGAGEMENT
  • Support program activities with the preparation, organizing, or processing of meetings or workshops as well as project-related events
  • Support in the preparation of internal coordination meetings including note taking, meeting summaries and other key activities.
  • Work closely with national counterparts to build cooperative relationships and establish the organization as an effective partner.
  • Obtain relevant information and knowledge from diverse and often challenging sources, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outputs

DELIVERY
  • Manage individual consultants and/or small consultancy projects
  • Assess delivery issues and collaborate with national counterparts to build common understanding and coordination on project activities
  • Support the project team to prepare periodic reports including monthly and quarterly progress updates, biannual and annual reports, and other project reporting responsibilities
  • Collate and review data related to Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) metrics ensuring quality of information and conformity with established M&E procedures and formats and report to GGGI HQ
  • Prepare communications materials (media releases, website content etc.) in collaboration with the Communication Unit to a high quality
  • Support in GGGI’s knowledge base, project and activity portfolio, best practices and lessons learned to promote adoption, replication and upscaling
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years supporting the delivery of international development project in climate change, green growth, sustainable development or other related sub-sector
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as public administration, development economics, environmental economics, environmental technology, development studies, engineering, etc.
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, alongside strong synthesis and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience in flood and water management necessary to conduct the activities identified in the biennial workplan for the Kyrgyzstan office, as well as literacy in other energy and sustainability topics
  • Project delivery experience, including managing the delivery of results on time and on budget
  • Work experience in Kyrgyz Republic with a highly regarded private sector company (consulting or industry), international organization, government or not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience of logical framework and reporting methodologies, online reporting platforms, evidence and results-based monitoring methodologies, outcome mapping and database management, preferably applied in the context of climate change, is an advantage
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Russian and Kyrgyz communication is required for this assignment.
  • A candidate must be Kyrgyz Republic citizen or entitled to work in Kyrgyz Republic
