JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Purpose of the position:

The HIV Prevention officer will be responsible for the overall implementation of HIV and Violence prevention interventions targeting AGYW.

They will directly supervise Life Mentors, a field level cadre that is responsible for the enrolment, mobilization and facilitation of interventions at community level. This position reports directly to the DREAMS Field Coordinator.

 

Major Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate direct field level implementation of HIV and Violence Prevention interventions, including identification and enrolment of AGYW 20-27 years into the DREAMS program. They will also manage clinical schedules, mobilization and referral of beneficiaries for health and social services.

2.

Conduct and sustain community and stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the Community Leadership Engagement Officer, Livelihood Program Officers, OVC Program Officers and Case Workers to ensure project ownership.

3. Conduct training for community cadre to capacitate them on project models and ensure model fidelity in the delivery of project interventions.

4. Provide direct supervision to Life Mentors to ensure quality service delivery. This will entail proper planning and execution of HIV prevention interventions.

5. Facilitate comprehensive quality data flow, reflection and adaptation of approaches in the field.

Ensure proper use of tools using a data quality checklist.

6. Facilitate the collection of beneficiary feedback through routine monitoring activities to inform real time project improvements.

7. Capture and document field dynamics, impact stories and lessons learnt

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required: A Degree in Health/ social sciences.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum two years’ experience in project implementation of health, HIV projects
    • Facilitating community interventions and stakeholder engagement
    • Experience in facilitating HIV prevention trainings and working with AGYW
    • Experience in implementing USAID/ PEPFAR Funded project
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in community Health & HIV/AIDS -related fields.
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:

Prior Work Experience: A minimum of two years of progressive and responsible experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation, program management preferred.

Experience in Programme Coordination and supportive supervision. Experience in report writing (management and donor reports)

Communication, leadership, team management, negotiation and risk management skills Proficiency in the Microsoft Package – Excel, Word, PowerPoint Ability to extract, analyze, organize, and interpret data and present findings in both oral and written form.
