JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Purpose of the position:

The OVC Program officer will be responsible for the overall implementation of OVC interventions targeting OVC and their caregivers.

Responsible for facilitating direct field level implementation of OVC interventions, including identification and enrolment of OVC beneficiaries and identification of OVC eligible for DREAMS interventions, management of clinical schedules and mobilization and referral of beneficiaries for services.

2. Conduct and sustain community and stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the HIV Prevention POs, Livelihoods POs, OVC Linkages POs, Case Workers and Community Leadership Engagement Officer to ensure project ownership.

3. Provide direct supervision to Home Visitors and Empowerment Facilitators to ensure quality service delivery.

This will entail proper planning and execution of OVC interventions.

4. Facilitate comprehensive quality data flow, reflection and adaptation of approaches in the field

5. Facilitate beneficiary engagement and support overall project implementation

6. Capture and document field dynamics, impact stories and lessons learnt

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required: A Degree in Health/ social sciences.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum two years’ experience in project implementation of health, OVC & HIV projects
    • Facilitating community interventions and stakeholder engagement
    • Experience in facilitating OVC trainings and working with OVC and their caregivers
    • Experience in implementing USAID/ PEPFAR Funded project
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in community Health & HIV/AIDS -related fields.
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:

Prior Work Experience: A minimum of two years of progressive and responsible experience in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, project design, program management is required.

Experience in Programme Coordination and supportive supervision required Experience in report writing (management and donor reports) Skills and Abilities: Communication, leadership, team management, negotiation and risk management skills Strong quantitative and analytical skills, ability to develop evaluation protocols, and conduct target setting with measurable outcomes. Must be adept in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data and present findings in both oral and written form.
