JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of the position:

The OVC Linkages Program officer will be responsible for the overall implementation of interventions targeting OVC Subpopulations.

These will include C/ALHIV, HEI, Survivors of abuse and pregnant teens. The scope of work will entail the identification, enrolment and ensuring continuity of care for C/ALHIV and PLHIV and will include collaboration with Healthcare Facilities (HCF) in the roll out of Differentiated Service Delivery model in the Likusasa Ngeletfu implementation sites and in HCFs designated as high-volume sites.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for facilitating direct field level implementation of interventions targeting OVC Sub- populations including C/ALHIV, HEI, Pregnant and lactating teens and survivors of abuse.

This role entails working with the health care facilities in the identification, enrolment and follow up of the OVC Sub populations. The Officer will also be responsible for facilitating beneficiary linkages and treatment retention. The Officer is responsible for updating the C/ALHIV tracker in the system. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that all C/ALHIV are retained in care and will be responsible for real time identification of those at risk of treatment interruption.

Conduct and sustain community and stakeholder relationships in collaboration with the HIV Prevention POs, OVC POs, Case Workers and Community Leadership Engagement Officer to ensure project ownership.

3. Co-facilitate monthly teen club meetings with HCW, monitor C/ALHIV viral load, facilitate disclosure support, follow up with beneficiaries with treatment interruption, convene and facilitate case conferences and facilitate quarterly caregiver forums.

4. Facilitate comprehensive quality data flow, reflection and adaptation of approaches in the field

5. Facilitate beneficiary engagement and support overall project implementation

Capture and document field dynamics, impact stories and lessons learnt

 

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required: A Degree in Social science/ Social Work.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in project implementation of health, OVC & HIV projects
    • Facilitating community interventions and stakeholder engagement, particularly HCFs
    • Experience in working with OVC Sub populations
    • Experience implementing USAID/ PEPFAR Funded project
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science/ Social Work.
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:

Prior Work Experience: A minimum of two years of progressive and responsible experience in working with HCF particularly supporting C/ALHIV.

Experience in community programming Experience in report writing skills and abilities: Communication, team management, negotiation and risk management skills Strong counselling Ability to establish and maintain relationships with vulnerable population Strong persuasive skills confidentiality
