JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Legal Services Section, and in coordination with the responsible Senior Legal Officer, to:

  1. Conduct research on questions of public international law and/or international administrative law;
  2. Draft notes, including summaries setting out the results of such research;
  3. Assist in reviewing legal documents;
  4. Assist with preparations for outreach activities, such as workshops and seminars
  5. Undertake other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Candidates for an internship must be at least 18 years of age and no more than 35 years of age;
  • At the time of application, the applicant must have completed at least a university degree in law, with a specialization in international law; advanced university degree in international law would be an asset;
  • Applications may be accepted up to two years after completion of a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Strong analytical and research skills are essential;
  • A good knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer applications is essential;
  • Familiarity with electronic document management would be an asset.

Languages

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential;
  • Knowledge of other official CTBTO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable.
