Duties and Responsibilities
1. Review the current strategy and approach to outreach and communication of UNTB including the use of social media, its website and print and electronic media. 2. Based on (1) above, develop a communications, advocacy and outreach plan for UNTB including the use of social media, print and electronic media including a revamp of the institution’s website. 3. Undertake implementation of key dimensions of communications, outreach and advocacy plan. 4. Distill key results of UNTB and prepare content to profile on social media and to share with development partners. 5. Prepare draft publications, blog and articles, including Op-Eds for the print media and placement on website as well as social media.
6. Plans and facilitates the development and implementation of a digital content strategy and contributes to the development of key communication products (e.g. human-interest stories, photography, video, animations, etc.). 7. Leverage social media platforms to profile and boost visibility of UNTB particularly in key constituencies. 8. Work with technical contractors to regularly update, maintain and refresh the Technology Bank website. 9. Leverage ongoing work of UNTB including participation in high-level meetings and conferences to boost profile and visibility of UNTB. 10. Contributes to partnership building and media relations. 11. Provides substantive support for publications and branding management. 12. Ensure adherence, across all project materials, including PowerPoint presentations, reports, etc., to the agreed upon branding and marking plan and in accordance with UN guidelines. 13. Work with UNTB’s Programme Team to support the communications and outreach aspects of UNTB’S Strategic Plan 2025 – 2027 preparations. 14. Undertake additional tasks as may be required to boost the branding, visibility and profile of UNTB.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in communications, journalism, business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education or related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in programme communications and advocacy or partnership development in the context of development cooperation or related area is required. Ability to develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies, with a focus on outreach, advocacy, and media engagement is required. Expertise in writing, editing, and producing content across various platforms, including social media, websites, print, and digital media is required. Proficiency in managing social media platforms, digital content strategy, and using analytics to enhance visibility and engagement is required. Experience with creating multimedia content, such as videos, photography, animations, and human-interest stories is desirable. Experience in cultivating and managing relationships with stakeholders, development partners, and other key constituencies is desirable. Familiarity with UN communication protocols, branding, and reporting requirements is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
