JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities
 The individual contractor on index development and analysis is expected to perform the following tasks: • Index Development and Maintenance: Assist in identifying appropriate indicators, methodologies, and data sources to design, develop, and maintain various indices relevant to the Oman project. • Data Collection and Compilation: Research, extract, consolidate, and process data required for the indices using various tools.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and evaluate data sets for accuracy, clarity, and validity, and adjust reported data as needed to ensure the integrity of the indices. • Index Validation: Conduct validity and reliability tests on indices to ensure their robustness and credibility. • Reporting and Presentation: Prepare reports, presentations, tables, graphs, and charts to visualize index data insights and support the project coordinator with comprehensive information. • Research Support: Provide research assistance on projects, compiling information from multiple sources such as databases, libraries, and the internet to support the indices. • Documentation: Prepare abstracts, summary briefs, and descriptions for inclusion in various documents, articles, and publications related to the indices. • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with team members, stakeholders, and other experts to ensure the indices are relevant, accurate, and aligned with project goals. • Performs other related work as required by the project coordinator.
Qualifications/special skills
A BAchelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration or related area is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 2 years of experience in collecting, researching and analyzing data is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
