Under the overall guidance of the UN Women Representative and the direct supervision of the WPS Programme Management Specialist, UN Women seeks to recruit a trainer on women, peace, and security, and GBV to deliver workshops to groups from Lebanese Armed Forces and members of WPNL, enriching their knowledge about WPS agenda and GBV in Lebanon, and ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively integrate the commitments of the gender mainstreaming into their work.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Design and Development of Specialized WPS and GBV capacity enhancement Agenda:

  • Design a comprehensive agenda focused on WPS and GBV, ensuring alignment with the key principles of UNSCR 1325 and the objectives outlined in the Lebanon National Action Plan (NAP).
  • Tailor the agenda to address the needs of the targeted group (LAF and WPNL).

2. Delivery of Sessions on WPS and GBV

 

  • Facilitate discussions, group exercises, and scenario-based learning activities that promote critical thinking and practical application of WPS and GBV concepts.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Capacity Building for Sustainable Impact

  • Develop and implement pre- and post-assessments to measure participants’ knowledge gains and readiness to apply WPS and GBV principles.
  • Provide recommendations and prepare detailed reports that analyze the outcomes and participant feedback.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Expert knowledge of UNSCR 1325, the Lebanon National Action Plan (NAP), and their application within military operations and gender mainstreaming efforts.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver specialized training programs on WPS and GBV, with a focus on interactive and participatory methodologies tailored to military contexts.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills

Required Skills and Experience

 

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in gender studies, political science, law, or relevant field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 5 year of professional work experience at national or international level in gender issues and development of training curriculums preferably related to Women, Peace and Security and GBV is required.
  • Proven experience facilitating trainings and workshops to various stakeholders including security Institutions is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of international and national legal frameworks related to WPS and GBV is an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
