JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

The Universal Access Project (UAP) works to advance U.S. leadership on global sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) through a pooled fund supporting best-in-class advocates; through strategic communications, media engagement, and direct advocacy; and through its unique role convening civil society, government, and multilateral partners in pursuit of health and rights for all. The Private Sector Action (PSA) team at the Universal Access Project (UAP) activates, mobilizes and engages businesses on women’s health and wellbeing in their operations, supply chains and communities globally.

As a PSA intern you will be supporting with three projects that engage corporate philanthropies and businesses:

This is a paid opportunity and offers a rate of $17.50/hour for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 8 months of graduation) an associate degree or bachelor’s degree program; and $20/hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program for up to 20 hours per week.

Essential Functions

 

  • Research: Assist in the Platform’s ESG/Human Rights Due-Diligence scoping research and support with basic data management and analysis for external Platform knowledge products.
  • Advocacy: Learn about advocacy by assisting with outreach, including drafting correspondence and preparing background material for presentations, and representing UAP at relevant virtual events.

  • Communications: Assist in communications efforts by monitoring and drafting PSA materials for UAP social media, creating infographics and one-pagers, drafting monthly partner bulletins, and updating our media trackers. Support with virtual and in-person Platform events and other working group engagements.
  • Fund Management: Supporting the Resilience Fund’s Operation Team with day-to-day fund management tasks, grantee partner relationships, and other Learning Hub activities.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist members of the UAP team with routine administrative tasks, including updating the team contact lists, updating the website with relevant news and publications as needed, coordinating, and planning internal team events, and note-taking as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

 

  • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
  • Relevant education and/or experience in gender equity, sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice, global health, corporate accountability, international development or related areas preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, produce high-quality work, be highly motivated, and able to work both independently and with a team.
  • Candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
