About this position

The Office of the Secretariat’s (SEC) primary role is to provide services for the IDB and IIC Boards of Governors and Boards of Executive Directors (including their internal committees), the MIF Donors Committee, and Senior Management. For meetings—and especially seminars—organized by one of the Bank’s departments, all meeting-related services are the responsibility of the department in question, with the Secretariat lending advisory assistance and logistical support as needed.

The Information Systems & Digital Innovation Section (SEC/ISD), which is responsible for business analysis, developing and maintaining the systems used by SEC and its main clients, is seeking a versatile, innovative, and proactive Full Stack Software Developer. You will play a pivotal role in our team by creating reusable code and libraries for future projects, ensuring the maintenance and support of existing systems, and actively participating in the execution of Digital Transformation initiatives, including development, testing, and implementation of systems and integrations. Your responsibilities will also include providing valuable post-implementation support to users for process modifications and production problem solutions, as well as introducing and testing new technologies in pilot implementations to enhance their effectiveness and deployment.

What you’ll do

  • Create reusable code and libraries for future use.
  • Provide maintenance and support for currently existing systems.
  • Participate in the execution of the Digital Transformation projects and activities, including system & integrations development, testing and implementation.
  • Provide post-implementation support to users for the modification of processes and the solutions of production problems.
  • Introduce new technologies in pilot implementations to test their value and accelerate their effective deployment and implementation.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently on the assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Act as a team player with ability to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and a variety of roles.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding, collaborative team on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Build long-term client relationships and leverage those relationships to make workflow more efficiently.

What you’ll need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Information Systems or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in software development and implementation.
  1. Programming Languages: ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, Microsoft SharePoint.
  2. Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including Angular and React.
  3. Solid knowledge in software systems’ design.
  4. Knowledge of one or more modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as TypeScript, Ember, Knockout, Underscore, Require JS, Kendo UI, AngularJS, jQuery, Knockout JS, BackboneJS, React, Vue.js etc.
  5. Hands-on experience with scalable web application and responsive web design.
  6. Databases: SQL Server. Experience in MongoDB is desirable.
  7. Operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Linux OS.
  8. Other: knowledge of Jira, Git, Scrum methodology.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
