ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

FHI 360’s Crisis Response team has been responding to the humanitarian emergency in Northern Ethiopia through an integrated health, nutrition, WASH, and Protection project to meet the critical needs of the conflict-affected population. FHI 360 aims to expand its reach to the Somali Region in Eastern Ethiopia to meet the immediate needs of the drought-affected population and will be implementing integrated humanitarian programming with the Ethiopia-based national organization, Pastoralist Concern (PC).

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Finance & Admin Officer, Cleaner is responsible ensuring proper upkeep of the FHI 360 Crisis Response Filtu field Office. Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and tidy. Vacuums and buffs floors, shampoos carpets, empty trash receptacles, and replace lining off trash cans.

Accountabilities:

  • Clean the Office (collect and dispose rubbish; clean the floor, windows, office rooms and furniture, toilets/bathrooms, office compound etc.)
  • Keep the office in good working order.
  • Ensure that the office is in good hygienic conditions.
  • Inform the supervisor of any problem, maintenance needs concerning the building.
  • Ensure that all the cleaning products and tea/coffee/sugar are available and store them in a safe place.
  • Make sure hot and clean cold water are always available for consumption in the office.
  • Prepare tea/coffee/milk service for staff and guests in the office.
  • Keep all the office room and compound clean all the time.
  • Operate photocopy machines.
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor for the maintenance of the office.

Problem Solving & Impact:

  • Identifies and recognizes problems that have established procedures and limited impact.
  • Refers non-standard questions and problems to higher level.
  • Errors can be easily and quickly detected within the immediate work unit and would result only minor disruption or expense to correct.

Supervision Given/Received:

  • Close supervision involving detailed instructions and frequent monitoring of work performance.
  • Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.

Education:

Grade 10 or 12 Complete and/or Diploma or International Equivalent.

Having computer skill is advantageous

Experience:

Experience in a similar job – ideally for an INGO.

Relevant work experience of 0-2 years and above

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and free of criminal records

Fluent in Amharic and working knowledge of English and local area language have an additional value

Typical Physical Demands:

Typical office environment.

Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.

Technology to be Used:

Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Travel Requirements:

Less than 10%
