JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: The Foundation Engineer – Senior Analyst will provide technical support for the analysis of foundation projects for building and bridges. The consultant will work in close collaboration with the operational and technical teams of UN-Habitat offices, staff of other UN Agencies, Government officials, media, multilateral and bilateral donors, and civil society.
Responsibilities
• Set parameters, standards and requirements for foundation engineering projects; • Set guidelines for evaluating technical studies and foundation projects for buildings and bridges; • Evaluate and review basic projects of foundation engineering regarding the structural systems, sizing, executive techniques, materials specifications, technological tests and control; • Review of Program, layout, 3D modeling, façade elements, and preliminary architectural design and basic projects; • Prepare reports and technical analysis on basic architectural and engineering projects; • Apply advanced analysis techniques to propose solutions to problems related to architecture, engineering and complementary of projects; • Analyze, review and propose changes to the technical drawings of graphic projects in order to ensure quality standards; • Provide technical guidance to designers, planners, engineers and architects; • Collaborate with other team members to prepare the necessary technical documents corresponding to the project; • Participate in meetings with other members of the technical team; • Perform any other technical support tasks to support the project team as required.
Education:
Postgraduate degree (lato or stricto sensu) in Structural Engineer or additional four (4) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
Experience: ● A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in foundation projects. ● Experience in the context of urbanization of informal settlements will be considered a plus. ● Previous experience within the UN System would be an asset.
Skills: ● Good computer skills in Windows, as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, AutoCAD and Web search engines is required. ● Good command of specialized software for modeling and simulation of structures required. ● Experience and skills in using AutoCAD Civil 3D would be an asset. ● Experience and skills in using BIM would be an asset. Knowledge Management → The person must know the processes, procedures and norms of UN-Habitat, in order to guarantee an adequate quality of the activities described above, following the standards of the organization. → The person will propose formats and procedures that allow the efficient implementation of the activities related to the project development. → The person must know the files of the Office, work with it and ensure its proper maintenance, accessibility for all staff and due updating. → The person will prepare databases related to running the project. → The person will make sure that all relevant technical information will be adequately shared with the correspondent staff. → The person will ensure that all produced material will be fit-for-purpose and delivered, in an organized way, for posterior consultation and use of the Agency.

Languages
● English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office. For the post advertised, fluency in Portuguese is required. Good command in oral and written Spanish and English are an asset.
