Reporting to Project manager, the job holder is responsible to work within a case management model using a biopsychosocial, multidisciplinary and a community-based MHPSS approach. He/she is part of the GBV Prevention Team and frontline worker providing mental health case management sessions ,services, supervision ,and technical support to IDPs, Returnees and host community population in the given location. Whereby the mentioned population needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner, using a variety of MHPSS and community-based approaches including brief Psychological intervention (gPM+,SH+,PFA, ) and facilitation to specialized service to help people to cope with mental health conditions in assigned location

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide mental health case consultations in collaboration with other GBV Response team. Develop culturally appropriate psychosocial activities, including social support activities targeting IDPs, returnees or affected host communities. These include but are not limited to training in psychological first aid, designing holistic recreational, vocational, and social activities; development of material for awareness campaigns and organize awareness sessions.
  • Coordinate with local government stakeholders (Women and children Affairs, Social Affairs, Health sector, faith organizations etc.) and other stakeholders regarding implementing the mental health and psychosocial support measure to ensure complementarity and flexible, efficient service delivery to other emergency response plans. Provides technical support to MHPSS teams through direct supervision sessions.
  • Provide culturally appropriate counselling services to people with mental health conditions or experiencing psychosocial challenges in accordance with professional ethics and best practices. Assist the MHPSS-Technical Advisor whilst providing training for staff provides including prot on basic MH concepts including MH GAP-HIG, PM+ and other evidence-based intervention approaches/modalities Strengthen community-facility referral system for IDPs, returnees or affected host communities.
  • Integrate MHPSS services for holistic service with other sectors including education, protection, nutrition etc to ensure protection of those suffering mental health conditions
  • Compile information and prepare written reports and submit to program manager timely and Work collaboratively with other agencies, local and international and with relevant government bodies

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:

  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse team in a sensitive environment.
  • Trained on MHPSS -Brief interventions (GPM+,SH+,PFA, Mhgap, SEL,PSE).

Required Professional Experience:

  • Four and above years’ experience in designing and implementing Mental health and psycho-social programs in the field
  • Knowledge and experience in application of international technical guidelines and standards in Inter Agency for Mental Health and Psychosocial guideline,
  • Minimum Knowledge of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving. as related to the field.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • BA degree in psychology, Counseling Psychology, Psychiatry nurse, Psychiatry social work,
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines through excellent time management, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge and skills in community-based psycho-social support mechanisms.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

  • Frequent travel to the project sites

Physical Requirements:

  • Based at assigned districts

Language Requirements:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English as well as in local languages
