Job Description

Our Mooroopna kindergarten has been running in the local community for over 70 years. We are a sessional kindergarten that runs Tuesday to Friday, offering 15 hours of funded kindergarten to children aged 3, and 20 hours of kindergarten to children in the year before school. As part of our team, you’ll support us in providing a positive and enriching start to each child’s learning journey at such an important time in their life.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

A place where your purpose matters. Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve – in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

It takes all types of personalities and talents to drive our organisation– yours included. We value a healthy work-life balance and ensure our people feel connected to each other and our impact. Learn from inspiring people and grow from a connection to our strong local and global networks. From our programs to our support services – this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

Here you’re empowered to make a difference in children’s lives by learning, sharing and collaborating to find new ways to solve problems.

In this casual position, based in Mooroopna, you’ll work with the kindergarten team to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of high quality, developmentally and culturally appropriate play and learning experiences for children. As part of our Northern Victoria team, you’ll work casual shifts during school terms only and will report to the Teacher.

You will make a difference by:

  • Being a flexible team member who is able to work when needed to support the kindergarten to remain open and provide a high level of care to the children
  • Supporting the team to provide a high-quality educational program to the children in the kindergarten, utilising your knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF)
  • Supporting the team in delivering the educational program consistently to all children in the kindergarten
  • Developing and maintaining respectful, supportive, collaborative and responsive relationships with staff, children and families

A place to feel valued:

You have the experience or the passion to engage children in their learning using the VEYLDF to support the choices you make. You enjoy working in a small team environment, bouncing ideas with others, sharing thoughts, and bringing a positive energy to lift the team when you are in the kinder. You enjoy working with a range of different families and children and understand that every individual child may have different needs and are willing to support this with the team.

Bringing your best every day, means:

  • Approved Certificate III or Diploma (equivalent or actively working towards) in early childhood teaching
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of a high-quality education and care program
