JOB DESCRIPTION

UNHCR provides support to the Government in protection and realisation of solutions for forcibly displaced and stateless persons. In this context, UNHCR is seeking support in enhancing the visibility of its activities and strengthening its communication with refugee communities across Czechia. As such, selected online volunteer will primarily:

  1. Support the organisation of at least two large events bringing a number of different stakeholders together to promote the meaningful engagement of refugee-led organizations and to promote refugee education.
  2. Support UNHCR in strengthening communication with refugee communities. This means helping the organization to ensure that refugees of different ages, genders and diversities receive information relevant to them in accessible languages and formats.

We expect the selected online volunteer(s) to start with this task as soon as possible, and by early September 2024.

The Protection/Communications Online Volunteer is a member of the Protection Unit and will report to the Community-Based Protection Officer.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and be eager to learn and to contribute to UNHCR’s objectives. They will have effective written and verbal communication skills. They should be resourceful, proactive in finding solutions. The selected candidate will be required to be able to work effectively remotely with stable internet connection.

Task description:

• Support the planning organisation of at least two large events, including the design and launch of registration forms for the two events, tracking registrations, preparation of resource packages for participants.
• Support in the design and development of information, education and communication materials and messages targeting refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons in different languages. Translation of products where relevant.
• Review a large set of data and support the development of a dashboard to showcase this information in a user-friendly way.
• Provide support in the formatting of UNHCR’s HELP website with text, colours, images and infographics that make the website appealing, easy to navigate, understandable and digestible by users.

• Experience in working with different people from different backgrounds.
• Strong digital and data management skill. Advanced computer skills in e.g. HTML, data visualization software such as PowerBI, desired.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills, including in the handling of data.
