JOB DESCRIPTION

ROLE PURPOSE:

The post is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the project, A Healthy Start in Life for Preterm and Low Birth Weight Babies.

The PC shall ensure that the following outcomes of the project are facilitated:

1: Increased understanding and awareness about premature and low birth weight infants and their needs among pregnant women, new mothers, families, and communities

2: An increase in identified pregnant women at risk of imminent preterm birth who received appropriate interventions

3: Improved care of pre-term and LBW babies after discharge, that identifies early signs of risk and supports their survival and development

The Project Coordinator assumes the crucial duty of orchestrating the execution of the project, on-site interaction with targeted communities and project partners guided by the organizational goals and strategic directions of Save the Children Philippines. The PC will take the lead in building and maintaining effective partnership through respectful collaboration and promoting strategic cooperation with partners in government, communities, Civil Society Organizations (CSO), research and policy institutions, private groups, academe and media.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree on Health, Nutrition or Social Sciences
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in program management or in implementing programs in development or humanitarian contexts
  • Technical knowledge and working experience on health and nutrition; socio-behavioral change communication, community development
  • Familiarity with First 1,000 Days Law
  • Familiarity with children’s rights and children’s issues
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to keep track of the quality and status of own or others’ work
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good writing skills; able to write reports and briefing papers
  • Proven ability in facilitating meetings, workshops, and other group processes
  • Highly organized, with good attention to detail and developed ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines and organize work
  • Proven experience of using MS office application (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and desk-top publishing software
  • Strong customer servicing skills
  • Experience in problem solving
  • Willingness to travel frequently

The job holder should develop a strong understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and should be committed to its principles and objectives. He/she should be willing to adopt the Save the Children methodology and framework in program implementation; and abide by and implement Save the Children’s Agency Policies including the Child Safeguarding Policy.
