The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is seeking for a tech-savvy candidate to join its headquarters in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka as an Assistant Officer – Process Automation.
The Assistant Officer – Process Automation, under the guidance of the Manager – ICT Infrastructure, collaborates closely with stakeholders to develop and maintain customized applications and automated workflows within the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and SharePoint Lists. The incumbent is also responsible for identifying effective solutions, providing first-level support for Power Platform-related issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of applications and workflows within the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and customize applications and automate process workflows using available technologies, while adhering to the organization’s policies and processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, IT team members, and project managers to deliver effective solutions for process improvements and automations identified by relevant stakeholders.
- Address and resolve routine issues related to Power Apps, Power Automate, and related applications, escalating more complex problems to senior team members as necessary.
- Ensure the implementation of automation tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate, including upgrades and feature rollouts, in accordance with plans approved by ICT management.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of development processes, issues, and resolutions for internal purposes and for users, including user guidelines.
- Organize and conduct training sessions for staff on using automation applications like Power Apps and Power Automate effectively to ensure maximum utilization of these tools.
- Stay updated on the latest features of automation tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate, suggesting improvements for current automated tools and workflows as needed.
- Organize data within automation tools or software, ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout the development and automation processes, and maintain compliance with IT policies and security standards.
Requirements
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
- Successful completion of GCE Advanced Level examinations, or an equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 06 months of previous experience in the IT field or equivalent demonstrated technical expertise.
- Experience developing applications using Microsoft Power Apps and designing and managing workflows with Power Automate.
- Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) using Power Automate Desktop.
- Experience working with SharePoint Lists.
Desirable:
- Undergraduate or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified IT Professional).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Essential:
- Excellent oral and written language skills in English, including effective listening and strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of application development and modern IT systems.
Desirable:
- Understanding of CompTIA A+ and other components of the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, and their integration with Power Apps.

This is a nationally recruited position and only Sri Lankan nationals will be considered. The duration of the contract will initially be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension.
