The Global Polio Eradication Initiative, mandated by the World Health Assembly to stop transmission of wild poliovirus, is a partnership spearheaded by WHO, Rotary International, US CDC, UNICEF and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and supported by BMGF. WHO is the lead technical agency. The Partnership has adopted a new strategy for 2022-2026, with a 5-year cost of US$ 4.8 billion. Given the current financial outlook and needs worldwide, the programme is gearing up for a lengthy fundraising period, starting with a pledging moment in October 2022.
