ACDI/VOCA is seeking a Biodiversity Livelihoods Integration Director for an upcoming Biodiversity and Resilience Activity in the Philippines funded by USAID. The anticipated program will address biodiversity loss and climate change in the Philippines by improving the enabling environment, strengthening key institutions, and leveraging private sector investments for nature-based conservation, adaptation, and mitigation.

The Biodiversity Livelihoods Integration Director will oversee the technical team’s integration of all biodiversity and livelihood-related interventions, strategically adapting activities across the regional contexts. They will incorporate past managerial experience to ensure coordination across project implementation and sustainability. The program is anticipated to start in 2025 and this position will be based in the Philippines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement strategies and work plans to strengthen conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity
  • Ensure that program activities and locations are chosen to have the most positive impact on the conservation of the country’s biodiversity
  • Support the Chief of Party in attaining program goals and objectives by providing technical advice and direction
  • Ensure program activities are in line with USAID’s Biodiversity Policy and ensure best practices are used by the program
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with cooperatives, partners, and stakeholders
  • Ensure integration and synergies across program components

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or relevant field is required; master’s degree is desired.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience in conservation science, scientific research, and/or biological monitoring in Southeast Asia and preferably in the Philippines.
  • Proven managerial background of a similar sized team and extensive scope.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Government officials, national and international experts, and local communities.
  • Experience working in the Philippines preferred.
  • Fluency in English is required.
