Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
Complement the work currently being done by APSE and PMDA on the creation of training material for Participatory
Action Research and Evaluation (PARE) training for young people. The consultant will review the training material that
has been designed, complement it based on previous training experience, and finally create relevant multimedia training
material.
Currently, the training material is composed of one session on general research methods, one session on best practices
on literature review, and five sessions on participatory research methods (interview, focus group, survey, ethnography,
and social cartography). As it is detailed later, each session is expected to last two hours, ergo the training material
produced out of this consultancy is estimated for a 14-hour training.
Scope of Work:
The required work has three steps:
1. Review the current material suggesting at least two more learning activities for each of the six-training sessions
(literature review, interview, focus group, survey, ethnography, and social cartography).
2. Design a user-friendly manual that synthesises the training content and material into a product that can be
delivered to training participants.
3. Design PowerPoint slides that complement the training material (approximately 14 hours). Slides needed to
match two hours per session.
Duration of the Contract: The assignment is for approx. 10 days within a period of one month.

Education qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Science, STEM, Communications or any other relevant areas.
Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:
  • Experience teaching (can be in formal education or training done by development partners). At least 3 years.
  • Evidence of Multimedia production of training material.
  • Experience working with vulnerable communities on training and educational skills.
  • Experience on inquiry-based learning approaches is an asset.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of Urdu is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
