Title of Assignment: Junior eLearning Project Coordinator

Name of unit/sector: IP eLearning Section, WIPO Academy (Regional and National Development Sector)

Place of Assignment: Geneva, Switzerland

Expected duration of assignment: October 1 to December 31, 2024 [Three (3) Months – may be extended]

1. Objective of the assignment

The WIPO Academy IP eLearning and Internal Training Program offers eLearning and blended learning courses on Intellectual Property (IP), catering to different target audiences:  Inventors and creators, business managers and IP professionals, policy makers and government officials of IP institutions, scientists, diplomats, students and teachers of IP and the civil society.

The Junior eLearning Project Coordinator would primarily support projects undertaken by the IP eLearning program for updating eLearning courses, developing new eLearning courses, certification programs, eLearning tools & course reviews and assist in reporting and presenting activities of the IP eLearning Program.

2. Deliverables/services

(a) Support the IP eLearning Program in the research and preparation for IP eLearning course updates in light of new IP developments in WIPO (e.g. new WIPO treaties, new case developments);
(b) Monitor course content development deliverables & timelines, preparing status reports & presentations, and liaising with stakeholders & IP tutors to ensure timely delivery of pedagogical outputs;
(c) Support the work of IP experts and project stakeholders as they relate to the substantive and didactic development of new eLearning courses, learning tools, and resources;
(d) Analyze summative and formative eLearning preparations, research new developments in IP law & policy-related issues, and competency-based IP training requirements of specific target groups (e.g., SMEs, diplomats, scientists, judges, business managers, entrepreneurs, women, youth etc.);
(e) Participate in the review of substantive IP teaching information and materials developed for new or revamped eLearning courses, learning tools, and resources;
(f) Assist in preparing reports and presentations on activities of the IP eLearning Program;
(g) Provide backstop support to the IP eLearning course administration team;
(h) Provide logistical and administrative support, and perform other tasks as required under the IP eLearning Program.

3. Reporting 

The Junior eLearning Project Coordinator reports to the Head of the IP eLearning and Internal Training Program, WIPO Academy (Regional and National Development Sector).

You must maintain regular day-to-day communication with the WIPO Academy IP eLearning team.

At the end of each month, you will submit the Summary of Tasks for Management View with a monthly invoice, with a copy to the designated administrative assistant.

You must notify the supervisor seven days in advance of planned absences to allow planning of important tasks during your absence.

4. Profile 

Education (Essential)

Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, education, communications, or a related discipline.

Experience (Essential)

Relevant professional experience at national and/or international levels, in the field of intellectual property law

Experience (Desirable)

Experience in project management, capacity-building initiatives, and development programs within the UN system is highly desirable.

Language(s) (Required)

Excellent knowledge of English and French written and spoken is required.

Language(s) (Desirable)

Knowledge of additional UN languages will be an asset.

Competencies

Strong client service orientation, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a multilingual and multicultural team.

Excellent research and drafting skills.

High level of organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to work within strict time limits and deadlines.

Confident user of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.).

Ability to quickly adapt to new software, and on-line tools such as learning management systems, course ware, multi-media tools would be an asset.

5. Duration of contract and payment

October 1 to December 31, 2024.

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
