Purpose of Job

The Funds Team is responsible for EBRD’s investments in funds. It makes commitments to commercially operating and financial return driven private equity, venture capital, infrastructure and other funds with a real asset strategy that invest in the EBRD countries of operations (see https://www.ebrd.com/where-we-are.html). From 2025 onwards, these will also include certain countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Funds Team also monitors these fund investments post commitment and manages a growing portfolio of approx. 150 funds. The team operates like an institutional fund-of-funds manager or institutional investor. EBRD is one of the largest fund investors in its investment geography.

The Funds Team seeks to fill a twelve-month position (maternity cover) at Principal level at the EBRD HQ in London with a (non-exclusive) focus on infrastructure, climate/energy transition and real asset (such as natural capital, digital infrastructure or real estate) focused debt and equity funds (not direct equity investments). The flexibility to work partially remotely in accordance with EBRD’s applicable policies and frequent business travel are part of the role.

The Principal assumes, as “Operation Leader”, the responsibility for delivering on all tasks related to the investment process, reporting to the Regional/Sectorial Head. This includes the origination and assessment of fund proposals of predominantly the above strategies. The Operation Leader will take responsibility for effective leadership of project (investment transaction) teams, supervision of junior staff, while contributing to their coaching and providing mentoring assistance, as required. The role also involves the responsibility for an assigned portfolio of existing fund investments, either directly or by supervising more junior investment professionals and representing EBRD on fund advisory committees and more generally, for example at conferences.
