Result of Service
To increase capacity of the Maldives Bureau of Statistics to manage statistical data flows, supporting the establishment of the data portal.
Work Location
Home-based with official travel to Maldives

Duties and Responsibilities
The Statistics Division of ESCAP is supporting the Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) in improving the exchange and dissemination of statistical data. In this context, MBS has decided to implement the .Stat Suite platform, in the first instance, to support the dissemination of its annual statistical yearbook and sustainable development (SDG) indicators. The services of a consultant are required, on an intermittent basis, to support MBS in the implementation of .Stat Suite. Under the responsibilities of the head of the Statistical Data Management Unit (SDMU), Statistics Division, the consultant will be responsible for: a) Develop video tutorials describing the process of uploading data into the platform b) Provide on-site support for a week at the MBS office in December 2024 c) Create a manual for uploading data into .Stat Suite d) Support MBS in preparing final SDMX artifacts for the data portal.
Qualifications/special skills
University degree education in data science, statistics, computer science, or related field is required. A minimum of five years of working experience in data management, modeling and dissemination, or three years with a higher degree is required. Working experience in the implementation of .Stat Suite, including data modeling following the SDMX standard, is required.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
