Location of Position: Washington, DC
Telework/Remote Eligibility: Four telework days per pay period (two days per week). The position is not remote eligible.
Open Period: September 10, 2024 – September 30, 2024
Appointment Type: This is an excepted service, time-limited appointment that is not to exceed four years, with the possibility of two two-year extensions.
Salary: (USD) $163,964 – $191,900 per year

Description of Organization: AFR is the USAID/Washington Operating Unit charged with managing USAID development programs in Africa. SD has the responsibility for providing technical support to these programs. SD provides technical expertise, innovative approaches, and cross-cutting support to over 35 bilateral and regional Missions in sub-Saharan Africa with technical responsibilities spanning all areas of development—economic growth, agriculture, the environment, democracy and governance, education, and health. The Natural Resources Officer (NRO) will serve as a member of SD’s Economic Growth, Environment, and Agriculture Division (EGEA). Among its technical implementation responsibilities, EGEA is tasked with providing technical support to USAID/Africa Missions and USAID/Washington on issues relating to agriculture, food security, trade and investment, water, biodiversity conservation, and climate change. EGEA works to achieve these objectives in collaboration with a wide range of partners across Washington, DC—in other USAID Bureaus and United States Government agencies—and in the field.
