Background
On June 7, 2024, the United Nations proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology aims to raise awareness, promote collaboration, and drive advancements in the field of quantum science and technology globally.
Objective
To provide technical and logistical support for the implementation of the Opening Ceremony and coordinate various initiatives and activities under the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.
Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences (ADG/SC), with guidance from the Director of the Division of Science Policy and Basic Sciences (PBS), and direct supervision from the Chief of the Section of Basic Sciences, Research, Innovation and Engineering, the consultant will play a key role in the technical preparation of the Opening Ceremony and support various initiatives and activities throughout the International Year under the UNESCO basic sciences and engineering programme. The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
