JOB DESCRIPTION

NRC Palestine seeks a candidate passionate about Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), to join our West Bank Area Office. The position is based in Ramallah but will support all staff who work in the West Bank, so there will be a lot of remote support to staff in other offices (plus some travel to other sub offices but only within West Bank). We are seeking candidates passionate about ICT, who have a work or educational background in ICT, with excellent communication skills who can patiently support staff but also help drive forward digital innovation in NRC Palestine West Bank Area Office.

Generic responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Goals and Performance Plan.

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  2. Assist with the implementation of the ICT portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the ICT function
  6. Contribute to implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across your area of work.

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Provide relevant ICT training and onboarding Induction for new staff.
  • Participate in developing the user manuals and other ICT training materials.
  • Support new hires onboarding by preparing the ICT package, assets and required access.
  • Provide first-line support to staff for IT-related issues, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
  • Support managing the ICT devices in accordance with the ICT policies and procedures.
  • Manage daily telecommunication related requests and provide monthly analysis reports.
  • Update contact list and telecommunication packages and/or plans.
  • Assist with the purchase of ICT-related items and maintain proper records and documentation.
  • Assist in developing data visualization dashboards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ICT digital tools and procedures.
  • Support the inventory, installation, maintenance and the payment documentation of any new device, system or network equipment.
  • Conduct regular visits to sub offices to ensure that the IT infrastructure and users’ IT-related inquiries are being addressed as required.

Generic professional competencies: 

  • Experience from working as an ICT worker in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of English

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as IT
  • Fluent Arabic and English, both written and verbal
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, be able to communicate effectively, produce reports, and present solutions.
  • Proven ability to plan and implement
  • Motivated and keen to learn
  • Strong organisational and team working skills
