In the face of the continuing crisis in Haiti, UNICEF-Haiti is supporting the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to improve social policy programs and help the education section improve the quality of SIGEEE data to facilitate cash transfers for children.

How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision of the Social Policy Specialist/P3, the intern provides technical, administrative and operational assistance in the implementation of Social Policy projects and supports the implementation of the work plan of the UNICEF Social Policy section in Haiti, in order to strengthen the services offered to vulnerable children and youth, both in development and emergency contexts. Among others, the actions to be supported include the implementation of projects with implementing partners to collect data from people targeted by UNICEF social policy projects, to help the section monitor the beneficiary payment process to save time.
Internship profile:
The overall objective of the internship programme is to enhance the interns’ professional experience within a UN agency through practical work and to expose them to the work of UNICEF. In this way, the intern contributes to making the social policy offer more accessible and of better quality, in particular for families in economic difficulty, for children and vulnerable youth.
Purpose of the position:
  • Support the implementation of cash transfer projects for IDPs
  • Support the implementation of incentive cash transfer projects
  • Contribute to monitoring procedures for the smooth running of monetary transfers
  • Support the implementation of one-stop shops in the greater south and west
  • Participate in field visits to ensure that activities are being carried out properly by the implementing partner
  • Support the development of future projects within the section
  • Contribute to the implementation of the section’s work plan in close collaboration with the Section Head
  • And all other activities related to the section

For each child, you must demonstrate:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be registered or have been registered as a student at a university (undergraduate, graduate or doctorate) or have a degree in the field of human and social sciences, law.
• Relevant experience in drafting project documents, reports and other administrative documents
• Experience working in a developing country and/or knowledge of emergency situations are considered an asset.
• Proficiency in at least one UNICEF working language and proficiency in the language of the duty station
• Have computer skills to be able to submit an application and carry out the tasks of the mandate
• Have no direct family members (father, mother, brother, sister) working for UNICEF, and have no other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern will report.
Additional experiences:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (EXCEL +++)
Language requirements:
Fluency in French is required. Working knowledge of English is a strong asset.
