To advance gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) in the country UN Women Uzbekistan aims to strengthen the UN response in addressing priorities for gender equality and women empowerment through the development and implementation of innovative approaches and providing support to governments and civil society organizations.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign commences (thereafter 16 Days Campaign) on 25 November 2024, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and extends until 10 December 2024, International Human Rights Day, aiming to raise awareness and stimulate advocacy for change. UN Women Uzbekistan is currently in the process of formulating events and details for the 16 Days Campaign 2024. The concept note for the 16 Days Campaign 2024 in Uzbekistan will provide background on gender-based violence in Uzbekistan, advocacy objectives of the 16 Days Campaign 2024 and proposed activities, including the format and logistics. The concept note should be produced by late September, with the implementation of the outlined activities commencing in November.
Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work
Under the overall guidance and direct reporting to the Country Programme Manager of UN Women Uzbekistan, the International Consultant will be responsible for developing a concept note for the 16 Days Campaign 2024 in Uzbekistan with UN Women’s corporate guidance, working closely with the Country Programme Manager for Uzbekistan. The consultant will be supported by the Administrative Assistant, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
1. Produce the Concept Note for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign
2. Support the implementation of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This is a home-based consultancy. The Consultant will work closely with the Country Programme Manager of Uzbekistan to get appropriate feedback throughout the process and as per each deliverable. The Consultant should be prepared to undertake mission travel outside of Tashkent as appropriate/if needed and as allowed by UNDSS.
