Operational Context

UNHCR CO Office Brazil oversees the operations in the country. It is composed of a CO Office in Brasilia, a Sub office in Boa Vista-Roraima, a field office in Sao Paulo and Manaus, and a field unit in Belem. The Senior driver will work at CO Brasília and will be supervised by the Finance associate. The admin unit comprises 8 staff located in Brasilia. Although not performing supervising roles, the incumbent of the position is requested to exercise teamwork while exercising his/her duties. The incumbent of this position will be asked to carry out regular day to day administrative tasks, such as receptionist duties, travel related processes, entering requisitions in Cloud ERP System, process of invoices and other admin related duties.

Desirable Attributes/Profile Statements include:

• Experience with UNHCR or other UN experience will be an advantage.
• Good communication skills.
• Logistic and reception services experience will be an advantage.
• Spanish language is desirable.
• Experience with protocol services.

Standard Job Description

Senior Driver

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Senior Driver is responsible for driving the High Commissioner (HC) and, when requested the Deputy High Commissioner (DHC) and Assistant High Commissioner (AHC) or other high-ranking officials. At this grade level the position only exists in Geneva. S/he is responsible for up keep and maintenance of the assigned UNHCR vehicle(s) as per technical guidance and specifications established by the organisation. S/he is required to follow strict instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor. The incumbent may be called upon to perform minor maintenance and repair of UNHCR vehicles and may perform clerical and other support services that deem necessary for the Executive Office.

The Senior Driver has regular contacts with staff within the UNHCR Office and with others outside UNHCR involving limited exchange of information.

All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. Duties
– Drive the HC, and when requested the DHC and AHC, or other high-ranking officials to all the meetings and official functions including weekends and holidays. Take and pick-up the HC from the airport or train station.
– Perform day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle(s); check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. and ensure that the assigned UNHCR vehicle(s) is road worthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
– Deliver and collect documents and other items from UN agencies, permanent missions and within UNHCR.
– Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations, or local requirements, are taken in case of involvement in an accident.

– Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. Ensure decision making in risk based in the functional area of work. Raise risks, issues and concerns to a supervisor or to relevant functional colleague(s).
– Perform other related duties as required.
