Unit Context:
As a unit within the WB Data Technology (ITSDO), the Data and Analytics unit (ITSDA) provides state-of-art information and technology applications to support the operations of the World Bank Group. Functions provided ensure that the systems meet the business needs of users and external clients to manage business processes for the World Bank. The current technology landscape encompasses Cloud-based data platforms (Azure and AWS), Oracle, SQL Server, Business Objects, Tableau, Cisco Information Server (Composite), SAP BW/Hana, Informatica, .Net, HTML 5, CSS Frameworks, SharePoint and many others. Our plans are to migrate our on-prem data repositories and re-engineer based on new Cloud architectures in the coming years.
ITSDA is seeking a Business Analyst with good understanding of technology to help in the data modernization journey. The team supports global practice applications and dashboards to help operational staff report and analyze country-specific development conditions. S/He will work as part of the Global Data Analytics team in managing the development data solutions and analytical dashboards in support of clients from various GPs and units across WB.
Duties and Accountabilities:
The candidate will work closely with the product owner to deliver the following deliverables:
•Works with business partner to elicit requirements and capture business needs
•Documents business processes and User requirements
•Communication of business requirements to the technical team using an agile methodology
•Develop user stories for hand over to the development team
•Manage the backlog and priorities across multiple projects
•Manage iterative system reviews and feedback with the client
•Test new product releases and updates to ensure that they work as expected and that they don’t introduce any new issue
•Manages ongoing relationship with business partners and clients
•Proactively build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders
•Assist users to understand how to use the systems and software, and provide training and documentation as needed
•Gather information from users about issues they are experiencing with the systems, and work with the system support team to troubleshoot and resolve those issues
Selection Criteria
•Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years relevant experience.
•Ability to analyze large amounts of data and information and draw meaningful insights from that data. They should be able to identify patterns and trends and use that information to make recommendations for improvements.
•Experience in gathering requirements from stakeholders and translate them into functional specifications.
•Experience in conducting user interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather requirements and document them.
•Experience in managing stakeholders and managing conflicting stakeholder needs.
•Experience in working across global delivery model.
•Experience in conducting risk assessments and risk management techniques.
•Experience in various development methodologies and Agile/Scrum principles.
•Excellent organizational and time management skills and a keen sense of priorities.
•Proficient in SDMX standards and experienced with associated open-source data management platforms.
•Hands-on experience with Power BI is a plus.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
•Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
•Ability to participate in multiple complex programs at the same time in an agile environment.
