• Provide assistance in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned project: assist in monitoring and analysing programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions in consultation with the supervisor.
• Assist in identifying technical assistance needs for capacity building and developing sustainable strategies to reform and strengthen the capacity of Justice and Security Sector in Sao Tomé and Príncipe.
• Assist the Programme Coordinator on the technical support to be provided to all relevant beneficiaries of the project.
• Assist in project/programme and/or budget revisions, the preparation and dissemination of costed work plans, terms of references and other related project documentation on justice and security reform in in Sao Tomé and Príncipe.
• Contribute with substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends.
• Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, activity’s concept notes, sections of reports.
• Provide administrative and substantive support to the Programme Coordinator and other team members in preparing and coordinating relevant meetings, workshops, conferences, including proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposing participants, preparing background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.
• Assist in undertaking administrative actions related to the procurement of equipment and services including preparation of purchase orders, contracts for consultants, related payment requests, and monitoring and follow-up on such requests in line with UN financial rules and regulations.
• Support field missions to locations in West and central Africa where UNODC carries out programme activities, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.
• Ensure correct tracking of all equipment and fixed assets related to the programme
• Ensure efficient closure of opened commitments to facilitate timely submission of uncertified financial reports and certified final financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with team document management (physical and digital)
• Contribute to administrative tasks (HR, procurement, travel etc.) as required
• Conduct financial monitoring as required
• Perform any other work-related duties as required/assigned.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
Staff of UNODC in West and Central Africa, UNODC Vienna, UNRCO Sao Tomé, UNDP Sao Tomé (administration, finance, budget, HR) and counterparts in Sao Tomé and Príncipe.

Bachelor related field in business or public administration, management, economics, finance, accounting is required.
Language requirement:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in Portuguese and English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, with excellent document drafting skills, is required.
Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
