Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Capacity Development and Partnerships Section of the Strategy and Programme Management Division. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The minimum duration of this internship is three months and can be extended up to a total period of six months. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned. The main duties will be related to (but not limited to) the preparation and execution of the 6th Asia- Pacific Directors General Forum for South-South and Triangular Cooperation and donor in relation to the below tasks: 1. Support data assimilation and analysis of information on development partners and South-South cooperation initiatives through utilization of artificial intelligence tools. 2. Assist in organizing logistics for the events, including managing registration, sending invitations, supporting physical exhibition activities, and drafting thank-you letters, among others; 3. Compile ESCAP success stories delivered through technical cooperation with various partners, which could be demonstrated during the events; 4. Draft and schedule social media posts to promote outreach and information dissemination related to the Forum; 5. Provide technical assistance in setting up virtual platforms for hybrid or online events, ensuring smooth execution and participant engagement; 6. Assist in preparing logistics for donor consultations, including designing and completing factsheets and presentations of completed, ongoing projects, and proposals; 7. Support outreach and information dissemination activities related to the Forum or meetings, including drafting information notes and/or summaries of events; 8. Participate in and contribute to other day-to-day operational tasks of the section, as appropriate. This may include for example, servicing requests for information, support for developing presentations, infographics and provide other assistance as needed. 9. Coordinate and work closely with colleagues in the Capacity Development and Partnerships Section, and the Planning and Budget Section, as well as colleagues in all Divisions and Offices across ESCAP in conducting research and data compilation.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must have Solid drafting skills in the English language. Applicants must have Demonstrated ability in graphic design tools such as Piktochart and Canva.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
