For its headquarters in Washington, D.C. (USA), the International Monetary Fund (the Fund), an international organization with a diverse staff from 190 countries, is seeking a Mediator to head its Mediation Office. The Mediation Office was established in 2012 and is an integral part of the Fund’s internal Dispute Resolution System (DRS).
The Mediator conducts and oversees mediations of workplace disputes, under the Fund’s Mediation Rules, as well as other mediation services including conflict coaching, group facilitation, and training. Additionally, the Mediator manages the work of a panel of On-Call Experts who assist with providing services of the Office, as well as the IMF’s Peers for a Respectful Workplace (PRW) program. The Mediator is responsible for conducting outreach to Fund employees to educate them about conflict prevention and mediation as a dispute resolution option. This includes conducting information and promotion activities for Fund employees worldwide regarding the services of the Mediation Office, the types of disputes that may be addressed, and the procedures for initiating mediation or accessing other mediation services.
The Mediator serves as an independent neutral third party and is appointed by, and reports to, the Managing Director of the Fund.
